Former Pakistan President Pervez Musharraf Passed Away


It is with great sadness that we report the passing of former Pakistan President Pervez Musharraf. He passed away on February 4th at the age of 79 in a Dubai hospital.

Pervez Musharraf was born in Delhi in 1943 and moved to Pakistan as a child. He joined the Pakistan Military Academy in 1961 and rose through the ranks to become Chief of Army Staff in 1998.

Musharraf was president of Pakistan from 2001 until 2008, during which time he made considerable progress in the fight against terrorism, improved Pakistan-US relations, and opened up the economy to foreign investment. He also championed the cause of women’s rights and strongly opposed radicalization.
